I started leading Beginner Knitting classes at a store called Knitwear Architects in the early 90s, and I now happily teach sessions for beginner and intermediate knitters in Vancouver BC at Urban Yarns on W 10th Ave, and Three Bags Full on Main St.

NEW!  Beginning in March 2008, I will be offering weekly knitting classes at Little Nest cafe, just off of Commercial Drive on Charles St.  Little Nest is a parent-friendly cafe, with tasty and mindful food served in a welcoming environment that includes lots of high chairs, space for strollers, and a large play area in the back.  These knitting classes will be all about individualized attention - you have a project to work on, I'll help you through the tough spots!  Beginner knitters are welcome, too - I'll show you the basics and let you practice while I make the rounds to help the other students!

Little Nest classes are $80 for four weeks, or $30 to drop-in to one session, if space allows.  Preregistration is required, please contact me via email to register, and credit card payment will be processed online through PayPal.  You can also visit me at Three Bags Full during my retail shifts on Mondays or Thursdays to pay in cash, and pick up materials for your project!

If you are just learning to knit, all you need is a ball of yarn (worsted or chunky weight) and a pair of needles to match the yarn (staff at the yarn shop can help you choose).. if you are planning to work on a specific pattern, please do a quick online search for "errata" or "corrections" along with your pattern name, to see if the publisher (or another knitter!) has discovered mistakes in the pattern.  Print out the errata and  bring it along with your pattern, yarn and needles, and we'll go from there!

Please support Little Nest by treating yourself to a snack or beverage - the kitchen closes at 3pm, so arrive early and grab a treat before class starts, then find a seat at the big table (if it is available) or at a smaller table nearby, and I'll make the rounds!  Children are welcome, in your laps, their strollers, or under your watchful eye in the play area.  Noise is expected!

Little Nest details:

Classes are on Wednesdays, 2:30-4:00, beginning March 5- Apr 2 (no class March 19), then April 9-30, and May 7-28.  $80 for four weeks, materials not included.  Class maximum is 6 adults, preregistration required. Refund policy:  72 hours notice, full refund.  More than 24 hours notice, partial refund.  Less than 24 hours notice, no refund or credit.
